is like shit hits the fan

I recently received a facebook group invitation to post art on an open group and discuss it. Is facebook a suitable platform for it? You can't even add a watermark. Not even deviantArt is the safest place. You can always download the pics. Make screenshots, etc.

No matter what quality the art may be or the resolution. It's annoying if you find your own stuff on a place where you did not post ist. I found youtube videos where people just take pictures from deviantart, make a slideshow and call it their own without naming the original owner. A friend of mine found her own pics in so. else's myspace profile - even with the impudent comment that this is his own drawing. Oh, this hurts!

So, the best way to keep it safe, is to keep it away from the internet.

I can understand that this sounds like stupid panic-ing. And DeviantArt wouldn't exist if everybody had this opinion.

BUT
- people ignore copyrights or do not know them. Let them know that stealing art/ downloading + using without permission is wrong.
- do not post it mindlessly. Your art is not free throwaway stuff. Care about it! Add watermarks, do not post it in 300dpi print quality.
- getting feedback, discussing art, showing your things and finding friends is a wonderful thing at DeviantArt. Don't let other people steal this fun.
